Plan A was to ride a long ride with a few good climbs, but that plan was made when it was predicted to have warm temperatures, low wind and abundant sunshine. As it got close to time to ride the sky hadn't cooperated, and it was dank and dreary. Decided to wait for the sunshine to return and worked on building a time trialing bike with my mid-ninety's components from the days of old. After that, did a bike fitting on my 87 Masi Nuvo Strava. Decided to take that out for a spin after the sun returned and planned to make it a recovery ride by heading up the valley to Millport and back. Got on the bike and headed out and it felt great riding the old bike and using the downtube click shifting. Had a strong headwind and made good time and had a enjoyable time riding. Opted to ride a little farther and went to Horseheads. Things started to go poorly as I turned back into the wind. Despite being mostly downhill, I still had to pedal strenuously. It didn't help that my rear cassette was a straight block seven speed with the biggest cog a nineteen. Spinning easily was not an option. The bike also does not fit me as well as the more custom-built bikes I usually ride, and it made thinks a little harder. Heartrate started climbing about halfway back and ended up riding hard enough to get a TEMPO ride rather than the intended RECOVERY workout. Got thirty miles in on the old bike and enjoyed the ride overall but need to get some bigger gears on the rear wheel.
